About the Role
- To design electrical and low voltage systems for various projects, and handle related projects from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, quality requirements and contract obligations in order to fulfill client requirements. This position holder must also ensure that designs comply with statutory guidelines for electrical system design.
What you will be doing
- Assist in conducing site surveys (as and when required) in order to investigate the layout of existing electrical systems prior to design; coordinate with local ministries as required.
- Consult with the Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer for technical guidance as and when required.
- Assist the Quantity Survey department in compiling additional contract documents (e.g. specifications, cost estimates etc.)
- Coordinate with team members effectively to ensure that all projects progress as planned in order not to cause project delays or budget over runs; ensure to update the HoS with regards to progress in design.
- Evaluate and prepare electrical load calculation requirements based on the power consumption of all electro-mechanical systems (e.g. lighting, power, equipment and all other services & systems, security systems, elevators etc.) which will be installed.
- Ensure that electronic components and materials specified for electrical designs are relevant and comply with statutory requirements; ensure that the specifications document is updated to reflect any changing statutory requirements.
- Maintain continuous quality control on all drawings produced under the section, ensuring that they adhere to PACE quality and CAD standards (e.g. high standards of visual presentation, error free, properly dimensioned, x-referenced etc.)
- Obtain approval from authorities (e.g. MEW, MOC,KFF and KNPC etc.) in respect of electrical ,fire alarm, telephone and fuel storage system etc.
- Meet manufactures/suppliers of electrical system components and materials (as and when required) in order to develop understanding of material technical specifications.
- Prepare required calculations and documents for submission and approval from concerned ministries.
- Remain abreast on changes in local ministerial requirements regarding electric systems; ensure that any changes are updated in the specifications of electrical components/materials etc.
- Understand the electrical requirements as reflected in TOR/RFP issued by client.
- Assist on site electrical engineers by responding to technical queries which they raise.
Required Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in design and site supervision on a construction field out of which at least 5 years of design experience.
- Work experience in Middle east is an added advantage.
- Work experience in design field is an added advantage.
Education
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
Certifications & Memberships
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of International Standards and Codes (e.g., NFPA, EIA/TIA).
- Knowledge of local ministerial regulations and standards.
Working knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., DIALUX, ETAP). - Proven record of interpersonal skills such as client interaction, strong team player and shall have ability to work pleasantly with a diverse work force.
- Track record in multitasking and proven decision-making ability.
- Good Internal and external communication skill such as ability to handle internal project, coordination meeting with all disciplines, dealing with
authorities, presentation to clients, etc. - Proven track record of the ability to express innovative ideas.
- Collaborate with the Electrical design Teams ensuring proper planning is made to complete the design work within the approved program and maintain
all target submission. - Comfortable using on BIM software and related electrical software (REVIT, DIALux, Navisworks etc.).
- Experienced in providing project presentations to client and authorities with confidence.
