About the Role
The primary role and responsibilities are to carry out activities to support material library management (interior design, architectural and graphics design) by assisting interior designers and architects with a variety of project related tasks, keeping up to date of and communicating current design, material and furniture trends, administering project archiving and storage standard processes and being a resource for all project teams.
What you will be doing
Create “sample” and “mood products” to visualize design concepts.
Give advice on material, furniture and fabric costs and benchmark product options.
Collaborate with interior designers and architects by providing material selection recommendations.
Offer alternatives and insights based on your knowledge of different materials.
Organise and maintain samples, catalogues, and resources related to interior design and architectural materials.
Set costs and project fees according to the budget.
Work closely with Interior Designers, architects, graphic designers, clients and contractors on design options, materials, samples and catalogues to assist selections.
Work closely with interior designers, architects, and graphic designers and co-ordinate with clients and contractors as required.
Responsible for curating and coordinating materials, furniture, fabric, and architectural elements used in interior design and architecture projects.
Research and make suggestions on materials and product sourcing.
Oversee industry representative visits for materials and launches.
Interpret and translate customer needs into rough plans.
Maintain organized records throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop and maintain a network of supplier contacts to create a library of materials.
Define project requirements and schedules during the initial briefing.
Required Experience
Proven working experience in interior and architectural spaces including consultations, renovations, space planning and new constructions.
Design firm / consultant experience.
Dealt with suppliers to Interior Design / architecture functions.
Excellent portfolio highlighting previous works.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in interior design, Architecture, or similar field.
Certifications & Memberships
Additional training courses, professional and personal development with membership to professional groups, societies or institutes, desired.
Training or certification in pavement design tools like AASHTO Ware Pavement ME Design or equivalent software is Preferable.
LEED certification, desired.
WELL Certification, desirable.
