About the Role

  • The Engineering Manager will lead and manage the engineering coordination and technical delivery of a large-scale hospitality project. The role will be responsible for overseeing design compliance, technical integration, and interdisciplinary coordination to ensure that the project meets the highest standards of quality, functionality, and guest experience.  

What you will be doing

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, addressing technical issues, resolving disputes, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with various engineering teams (civil, structural, MEP) to ensure seamless collaboration and integration across all aspects of the project.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to local regulations, international standards, and project specifications. Prepare regular technical reports and presentations for senior management and clients.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate engineering risks and issues that may affect project timelines, budgets, or quality.
  • Lead the engineering supervision efforts for large-scale construction projects, ensuring compliance with design, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor and manage project schedules from an engineering perspective, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage and supervise the work of contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with design and engineering standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to contractors, consultants, and project teams, solving complex engineering issues on-site.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, performance management, and skill development.
  • Oversee and enforce quality control procedures on-site, ensuring all work meets the specified requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular technical reviews of design and construction documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Communicate between the Client, PMC, sub-consultants, and contractors on all technical and design matters.
  • Ensure that all works comply with project specifications, international codes and operator / brand standards.
  • Manage interface between design teams, supervision teams, and contractors to resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Monitor progress of design-related activities and support timely resolution of RFIs and design queries.
  • Place at the end of the workflow of approving technical submittals, shop drawings, and material selections.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to site engineering and supervision teams.
  • Support value engineering initiatives without compromising design quality or brand requirements.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction engineering management, with at least 5 years in a leadership / engineering management role on large-scale or mega projects in the AEC industry, including hospitality projects.
  • Proven track record in design coordination and technical managment on mega or complex developments. 
  • Experience in using knowledge of architectural design, high end finishes, and integration with MEP and structural systems. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.  
  • Master’s degree is an advantage. 
  • PMP qualification is preferred. 

Certifications & Memberships

  • Additional training courses, professional and personal development with membership to professional groups, societies or institutes, desired.
  • Certification from Saudi Society of Engineers or local equivalent based on country requirement.
  • Project management qualifications is an advantage.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building systems, engineering design, construction supervision, and quality assurance standards. Experience in the KSA market is highly preferred.
  • Solid technical knowledge of architecture with understanding of civil, structural, MEP, or other engineering disciplines related to large infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex, high-pressure construction projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
  • Familiarity with local construction laws, building codes, safety regulations, and international standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, etc.).
  • Proficient in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera, BIM tools) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex engineering challenges in real-time.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve project goals and maintain high standards of engineering performance.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in technical and project management tasks.
  • Quick and effective decision-making skills, particularly in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing project requirements and challenges.
