About the Role

  • Pace is looking for a professional capable of designing Public Health systems for various projects, and handle projects from their initiation to closure, and shall ensure adherence to the project 
    deadlines and quality requirements.
  • The Pace Mechanical Engineer - PH & FF  will be instrumental in the design of public health systems as per client requirements, considering health and safety regulations related to domestic water supply and drainagesystems. The incumbent will handle multiple public health design projects simultaneously working closely with Pace leaders, client representatives, managing subordinates to execute public health designs and work with cross functional work environment. 

What you will be doing

  • Allocate, prioritize and check the work of a team of modelers/draftsmen.
  • Assist Lead/Senior Engineer in follow up with ministries for obtaining approvals.
  • Assist Lead/Senior Engineer on determining the required Public Health and Fire Protection component/material capacities based on designs.
  • Assist site staff in verifying samplematerials submitted by contractors to ensure compliance against ministerial requirements and specifications.
  • Assist on site Public Health and Fire Protection engineers by responding to technical queries when they raise.
  • Assist the Q.S. Department in preparing material & quantities take-off reports & cost estimates.
  • Check the existing site utilities for connections to formulate and minimize the design.
  • Coordinate effectively with other architects and engineers throughout project lifecycles.
  • Consult the Lead/Senior Engineer for gaining any technical guidance as and when required.
  • Ensure preparation of accurate design calculations and size of systems under supervision of Lead/Senior Engineer.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and standards, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain continuous quality control on all drawings produced under the section, ensuring that they adhere to PACE quality standards (e.g. high standardsof visual presentation, error free, properly dimensioned, x-referenced etc.)
  • Protect the confidentiality of all designs within the section at all time.
  • Prepare design sketches for modelers/draftsmen to prepare design drawings.
  • Remain abreast on changes in local ministerial requirements regarding Public Health systems.
  • Understand owner/client design requirements prior to the commencement of any design project; coordinate with the Lead/Senior Engineer and otherarchitects & engineers for further clarifications on design requirements.
  • Utilize the latest international codes and making use of engineering software such as Elite (Fire), Water Cad and related software.
  • Review and understandtheir drawings and specifications to ensure that adequate provisions in Public Health and Fire Protection designs are made based on the designs provided by the other sections.
  • Assist Lead/Senior Engineer to prepare concept design reports & related documents.
  • Assist Lead/Senior Engineer to select all required equipment.

Required Experience

  • 3 - 7 Years of experience in design of Public Health and Fire Protection system.
  • Full awareness of Local and International codes / guidelines related to Public Health Design such as MEW, MPW, IPC, UPC, ASPE, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of Local and International codes related to Fire Protection system such as KFF (local civil defense), NFPA.
  • Hand's on experience on BIM software (Revit Model, Navisworks).
  • Possess regional experience in design of Public Health and Fire Protection system.
  • Previous experience shall include design of Public Health and fire protection system for mega Ppojects of different categories such as mixed use,development, educational buildings, health care, hotel, sport facilities, neighborhoods, high rise buildings, etc.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Certifications & Memberships

  • Additional training courses, professional and personal development with membership to professional groups, societies or institutes, desired.
  • Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) membership should be realistically achievable within the probation period.
  • LEED AP Accreditation, desirable.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously in a similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office. Cad, Revit software.
  • Proven record of interpersonal skills such as client interaction, a strong team player and shall have ability to work pleasantly with a diversework force.
  • Track record in multitasking and shall have proven decision making ability.
  • Good Internal and external communication skill such as ability to handle internal project coordination meeting with all disciplines, dealing with authorities,presentation to clients, etc.
  • Proven track record of the ability to express innovative ideas.
  • Demonstrated experience in excellent communication skills both verbal and written
