About the Role

  • The Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Roads is responsible for leading the design and delivery of road infrastructure projects. This includes developing detailed designs, performing technical reviews, ensuring compliance with standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, addressing design challenges, and collaborating with clients and stakeholders. Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads), strong knowledge of road design standards, and excellent communication skills are essential. With 10+ years of experience, the candidate should demonstrate expertise in road design, problem-solving, and project coordination.

What you will be doing

  • Prepare detailed designs for roads, highways, and related infrastructure, including alignments, cross-sections, profiles, and drainage integration.
  • Provide technical support during client meetings and presentations.
  • Review and verify design outputs to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  • Support the preparation of design deliverables, including drawings, reports, and technical specifications.
  • Assign tasks, review outputs, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Ensure designs meet local and international standards such as AASHTO, Saudi Highway Code, or Eurocodes.
  • Ensure that designs align with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, drainage, and structural engineers, to develop cohesive design solutions.
  • Conduct design checks for quality control and resolve technical issues.
  • Assist in resolving design-related issues during the construction phase.
  • Assist in managing design schedules and ensuring timely submission of deliverables.
  • Incorporate safety, sustainability, and environmental considerations into design solutions.
  • Perform engineering calculations for geometric design, pavement design, and earthworks.
  • Provide guidance on design modifications, if necessary.
  • Review construction submittals to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Support project managers in addressing design-related feedback or changes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and skill development.
  • Stay updated on advancements in road design practices, software, and standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and adoption of advanced design technologies.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in road design engineering, with a strong focus on highways and urban roads.
  • Experience in managing design components of medium-to-large scale road projects.
  • Proficiency in road design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Vehicle Tracking and ParkCad. Infraworks & Navisworks are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric design, pavement design, and road safety principles.
  • Familiarity with stormwater drainage and traffic engineering is a plus.
  • Experience in mega projects of highway, and airports design is a plus.
  • Experience in Interchanges (full clover leaf, trumpet and flyover, etc.) and Intersections (roundabouts, signalized etc.).
  • Previous knowledge of road execution is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications & Memberships

  • Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) Membership or Any local Engineer's society membership (for hiring outside Kuwait).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is a plus.
  • Specialised training or certification in road design software or methodologies.
