About the Role

  • Ensure complete design of HVAC systems for projects, considering architectural design intent, and deliver tender documents to comply with clients Terms of Reference and any related regulations

What you will be doing

  • Collaborate effectively with internal team members to ensure project timelines and budgets are maintained; provide regular updates to the department head on design progress.
  • Attend site meetings, including coordination, progress, and ad-hoc meetings, as required.
  • Conduct design surveys and compile data collection reports to support design development.
  • Coordinate closely with other architects and engineers throughout all project phases (conceptual, preliminary, detailed, final), ensuring HVAC design integration with all disciplines.
  • Define input parameters for load calculations and perform heating, cooling, and other thermal load analyses using appropriate software.
  • Design smoke ventilation systems in accordance with Civil Defense regulations, including required calculations and layouts.
  • Develop initial HVAC design concepts aligned with project objectives.
  • Draft responses to contractor transmittals and RFIs to resolve technical queries during construction.
  • Liaise with the Project Architect and external consultants to define and meet HVAC system requirements.
  • Ensure all HVAC design work complies with company policies, procedures, standards, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Meet with Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) representatives to review project load calculations and secure final approvals.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control across all design deliverables to ensure alignment with PACE’s internal quality standards.
  • Provide clear sketches and markups to drafting teams for the preparation of AutoCAD drawings and Revit models.
  • Prepare technical specifications and coordinate with the Quantity Surveying department for integration into contract documentation.
  • Review and understand client/owner design requirements before initiating design tasks; coordinate with architects and engineers for clarification as needed.
  • Validate calculation results for accuracy using benchmark figures and ensure full compliance with local codes and standards.
  • Visit Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) to present and clarify smoke ventilation system designs and obtain necessary project approvals.
  • Support site HVAC engineers by responding to technical queries and reviewing submitted material samples for compliance with project specifications and ministerial regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes to ministerial requirements related to HVAC design and implementation.

Required Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of proven experience in HVAC system design.
  • Proficient in using the latest version of HAP software for load calculations and system analysis.
  • Solid background in sustainable design with demonstrated experience on LEED-certified projects.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international mechanical codes and HVAC standards.

Education

  • Bachelors Deree in Mechanical Engineering.

Certifications & Memberships

  • Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) Membership or Any local Engineer's society membership (for hiring outside Kuwait).
  • LEED certification, desired.
  • Project management qualifications is an advantage.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of using technical software including Revit.
  • Demonstrated LEED background experience.
  • Knowledge of local and international codes and standards.
  • Clear and precise communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop other Engineers.
  • Able to lead a team of engineers and BIM modelers.
  • Excellent time management, can organbise work and meet deadlines.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail, thorough and systematic approach to work.
  • Highly analytical and solution minded.
