About the Role
- Leads Pace HSSE sites and offices risk management program Pace HSSE Manager provides an operational focus on risk management for Pace, leading a team and HSSE staff across multiple project and countries. The role requires HSSE guidance and advice leading Pace site leaders on a strategic path based on the principles of zero harm. The role also oversees all compliance including legislative, regulatory and ISO standards (45001 and 14001) requirements. (Reporting function: Pace HSSE staff report directly to Pace HSSE Director).

What you will be doing
- Achieve and maintain external ISO certifications across all countries Pace operate in
- Assist with Safety investigations as needed or requested. Source, review and recommend external HSE training platforms.
- Create consistent, fit for purpose HSSE processes across all countries Pace operate within
- Delivery of HSSE services including audits, assessments, reviews, system and process development, training, and workshop facilitation.
- Maintain and continue to develop knowledge and skills in technical HSSE, risk management, legislative and contemporary industry practices.
- Driving a safety-first approach across Pace projects in line with Pace “Safety First” culture.
- Deliver regular project management and HSE team HSSE presentations and our workshops.
- Assists with communicating to Pace workforce updates on HSSE via alerts where requested.
- Monitor HSSE regulation updates in all countries Pace operate within and update all necessary HSSE documents.
- Performs subordinate HSSE JD performance reviews in line with each line manager.
- Provide accurate and timely advice and assistance to internal and external clients on a range of HSSE matters.
- Provide guidance on corporate and site safety programs.
- Regularly visits sites to support Pace PM's and HSSE teams in risk management Conducts HSSE Interviews for new Pace HSSE candidates.
- Report regularly on Pace HSSE risks, Projects HSSE risks, compliance with HSSE KPI’s
- Working as part of a strong HSSE team to facilitate collaborative project execution.
- Provide strong facilitation, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills in order to achieve effective and agreed client outcomes.
Required Experience
- 14 plus years’ experience within the Middle East within a HSSE leadership role.
Experience having worked with reputable Engineering firms preferably consulting firms.
Knowledge of all relevant Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations.
Strong practical knowledge in Risk Assessment & Job Safety Analysis.
Experience of delivering services with limited supervision of day-to-day tasking and be capable of working autonomously on contract and system HSSE deliverables.
Worked with Clients, Project Managers, Contractors and all external stakeholders to develop and maintain a positive and safety conscious culture.
Education
- Educated to degree level is an advantage.
Certifications & Memberships
- NEBOSH / IOSH / IASP / OSHA certified.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CFA is required.
Essential Skills
- A strong working knowledge of contemporary HSSE practices and legislative requirements across a broad range of jurisdictions and industries.
- Has specific knowledge in the building and construction industry.
- A mature approach to risk management and working in the current environment.
- Strong working knowledge of behavioral and cultural HSSE challenges
- Proven ability to take ownership of HSSE and tasks with demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication along with sound report writing skills.
- Business development, client and project management skills are highly desirable.
- Can work autonomously with personal drive to achieve agreed outcomes in a timely manner.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively interact with others and build relationships with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders.
- Expert with Microsoft Office, gathering and interpreting data, can produce convincing presentations.
- Knowledge of Regulatory Organizations and understands how to Pass Inspections. Verbal and Visual Hazard Communications.
