About the Role
- The Senior Digital Delivery Coordinator (SDDC) / BIM Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and enforcement of digital delivery and BIM standards, workflows, and best practices across the Structure department, ensuring consistency in all BIM projects, files, models, and departmental processes. The SDDC works closely with the Digital Delivery Department, IT, and the Director of Structure Department, facilitating collaboration across teams to oversee both local and international projects. They directly report to their department's Director and indirectly report through a technical stream to the Director of the Digital Delivery Department. The SDDC collaborates with the Structure team to drive the adoption of digital standards, workflows, and information management strategies across the department. Working closely with department Digital Delivery Coordinators (DDCs), the SDDC ensures alignment with company objectives and industry best practices. This role oversees BIM processes across the department, ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 and supporting consistent, high-quality project delivery. Works with the Digital Delivery Department and IT to maintain a robust digital infrastructure, including essential software and hardware, to support efficient project execution and data management. Provides guidance, training, and support in digital tools, BIM standards, and workflows, fostering knowledge growth and ensuring high performance in digital skills. They play a proactive role in both departmental and firm-wide initiatives, embodying Pace’s values and working in alignment with organisational policies to ensure a cohesive, high-quality approach to digital delivery.
What you will be doing
- Acts as the primary BIM contact during project setup, coordinating requirements with clients and consultants and addressing escalated issues as required.
- Adds process Improvement & Optimisation: Drive initiatives to streamline BIM processes by developing automation routines that improve productivity while ensuring adherence to established BIM standards and quality protocols.
- Collaborates with department and Digital Delivery leadership to ensure BIM initiatives align with overall digital delivery goals by setting clear benchmarks and KPIs Tracking performance metrics, progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Conducts audits to maintain BIM standards, in line with ISO 19650, and identify areas for improvement across projects.
- Continuously assess and adopt new BIM tools, ensuring relevance to departmental needs, in collaboration with IT to align software and hardware requirements.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of a strategic roadmap, identifying improvement areas and recommending adjustments to support the department’s digital transformation efforts and project delivery excellence.
- Coordinates training programs and upskilling initiatives to ensure continuous staff development, including role-specific competencies, identifying skill gaps, and delivering targeted training to focused groups to support digital transformation goals.
- Develops and configures dashboards for tracking design progress, QA/QC compliance, and key project metrics, tailored to meet reporting needs and provide actionable insights for project teams.
- Develops and tailor BEPs for each project, ensuring they align with ISO 19650 standards and company protocols.
- Enhances content library management by ensuring Revit families, CAD blocks, 2D details, schedules, and other resources are consistently updated, well-organised, and easily accessible across teams.
- Establishes and enforces protocols to ensure model quality, effective coordination, clash detection, and issue management workflows. Monitor project progress, maintain high QA/QC standards, and ensure the delivery of accurate and consistent design models.
- Focus on maintaining the library's relevance and usability by regularly monitoring usage patterns, assessing content alignment with project standards, and implementing updates to support efficient, standardised project delivery.
- Identifies emerging trends and business opportunities related to BIM.
- Leads initial BIM kickoff meetings to set project strategy, establish roles, and outline key milestones.
- Maintain ongoing oversight of the CDE to monitor access, support seamless collaboration, and ensure compliance with project needs throughout its lifecycle.
- Manages and utilises digital tools to oversee content libraries, perform model health checks, and automate routine tasks. Ensure that content and models are efficient, optimised, and compliant with project standards.
- Manages the exchange of discipline-specific design models through the CDE or Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), ensuring compliance with established protocols and effective collaboration between teams.
- Monitor and assess project execution to identify and address any deviations from established standards, supporting project teams in achieving quality and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor the effectiveness of these tools, address issues as they arise, and provide training and support to project teams for their successful implementation.
- Oversees BIM processes across all project stages to ensure compliance with ISO 19650 and/or project standards, maintain rigorous QA/QC protocols, and uphold consistent BIM practices.
- Post initial setup is complete, transitions day-to-day BIM management responsibilities to the appropriate project team members, maintaining oversight and conducting periodic reviews to support quality assurance and address any issues as they arise.
- Provides comprehensive digital delivery and BIM orientation for new hires, ensuring familiarity with tools, standards, and processes to support a smooth transition into their roles.
- Reviews proposals for BIM requirements and provide input on best practices to support project goals.
- Sets BIM Standards & Guidelines Optimisation: Develop and maintain BIM standards, guidelines, and templates in alignment with ISO 19650 to ensure firm-wide consistency and compliance.
- Stay informed on emerging industry trends, evaluating and recommending software solutions that support evolving project and organisational goals.
- Supports and promotes Pace’s digital delivery and BIM capabilities by contributing to marketing efforts through material creation, web content, literature, interviews, and presentations at client-focused conferences and industry events.
- Supports department management with allocating BIM resources strategically across projects to meet varying needs.
- Utilises established CDE templates as a baseline and configure them to suit project-specific requirements, including access controls, information exchange protocols, coordination workflows, and issue management processes are defined and implemented.
Required Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Structural engineering with expertise in BIM implementation and management.
- Demonstrated success in delivering major BIM projects and managing large teams to meet project requirements.
- Proven experience in delivering targeted training and upskilling initiatives to improve team competencies in digital delivery and BIM processes.
- Extensive experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to align workflows, ensure interoperability, and achieve project goals.
- Experience developing, standardising, and maintaining BIM templates and content libraries to support efficient project delivery.
- Experience implementing QA/QC protocols to ensure compliance with BIM standards and project requirements.
- Familiarity with regional (Middle East) standards and practices is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ideally, holds Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
Certifications & Memberships
- A recognized BIM qualification is preferred.
- Additional training courses, professional and personal development with membership to professional groups, societies or institutes, desired.
- Autodesk Certificate in Civil 3D or similar.
Essential Skills
- Software Proficiency, with advanced knowledge in tools including: Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Power BI, Etabs, Safe, SAP2000, S- Concrete, RAM Connections, Ram Concept, Concide Beam, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office 365. IMAGINiT Clarity, Kinship is a plus.
- Expertise in standards such as BS/PAS 1192 and ISO 19650.
- Strong understanding of BIM management processes, coordination workflows, and their application across design, construction, and delivery phases.
- Strong understanding of OIR (organisational data needs for strategic goals), AIR (data for asset management and lifecycle value), and PIR (project-specific data for design, construction, and delivery).
- Experience managing a Common Data Environment to ensure effective collaboration and information exchange.
- Knowledge of Dynamo automation and similar scripting tools is an advantage.
- Understanding of COBie/IFC workflows for data exchange and compliance is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, can build consensus and foster collaboration.
