About the Role
- To service the assigned construction scope to ensure Company and Contractors perform all work to agreed standards for health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSSE performance. This role requires a person who can inspire, energise and positively influence all stakeholders to achieve a positive and compliant HSSE environment. (Reporting function: Pace HSSE staff report directly to Pace HSSE Director)
What you will be doing
- Assist Pace Project Director/Resident Engineer with the day-to-day HSSE operations of Pace team.
- Assist with client with all aspects of project HSSE.
- Confirm all incidents are investigated thoroughly with determination of the correct root causes and corrective and preventative actions.
- Drive continuous improvement via regular HSSE inspections and trend analysis to better enable Pace to meet its legal and contractual requirements.
- Escalation of noncompliance with sites HSSE program in accordance with contract documents, and all other related requirements, i.e., SVN, correspondence, etc.
- Hold regular project HSSE meetings to focus on compliance and continuous improvement.
- Identify and determine the necessary HSSE measures to be placed on site as a preparedness to any potential emergency.
- In conjunction with Pace HSSE Director/Manager, provide leadership and advice on all HSSE related matters.
- Incorporate all HSE data collected from HSE site inspections, emergency preparedness and response in the monthly HSE report.
- Influence others, through consistent model management: “walks the talk” philosophies, solid business fundamentals and sound ethics.
- Oversee contractor building and road safety strategies and HSSE programs.
- Produce project HSSE statistics and KPI information.
- Promote internal project HSSE awareness through regular training sessions.
- Provide support, coordination and advice of HSSE practices, systems and procedures including coaching and support to all stakeholders.
- Undertake other related duties as directed.
- Verification of contractor HSSE closeout actions with identified hazards.
Required Experience
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 auditing experience however Lead Auditor qualifications shall be looked at favorably.
- Experience in HSSE with respect to construction contract management.
- Risk Management competencies.
- Change Management competencies.
- Conflict Resolution competencies.
- Strong working knowledge of Middle East health, safety, security and environment legislation.
- Excellent Risk Assessment / analysis skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing building and traffic safety.
- Strong understanding of relevant HSSE legislation and technical standards.
- Demonstrated high level communication (oral and written), negotiation, liaison and representation skills and a demonstrated ability to consistently display high quality customer service principle.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- 5 to 10 years construction experience within a similar environment.
Certifications & Memberships
- NEBOSH / IOSH / IASP / OSHA certified.
- Additional training courses, professional and personal development with membership to professional groups, societies or institutes, desired.
- Professional accreditation in Occupational, Health and Safety.
